Santé Partners on data-driven care: helping more people with fewer staff

Ruben Sanders, Business Control Manager at Santé Partners, shares his experiences

Santé Partners provides home care and social services across multiple regions in the Netherlands, as well as its own residential facilities for people who can no longer live independently at home. With growing demand for care and a shrinking workforce, the organization faces a challenge shared by the entire sector. How do you ensure that the people you do have are deployed in the right places? The answer lies in data. But that data must be accurate, accessible, and immediately usable. To achieve this, Santé Partners collaborates with SureSync.

Greater demand for care, fewer staff

The pressure on the healthcare sector is mounting. More older adults, more complex care needs, and a labor market that isn’t keeping pace. For Santé Partners, management information is therefore not a luxury, but a prerequisite for continuing to provide quality care.

“There are more and more older adults with care needs, while we actually have fewer staff members. To deploy our people as effectively as possible, insight into management information is crucial. What’s going on, where is the pressure, and where do we need to make adjustments?”

Due to its scale, Santé Partners has a wealth of data at its disposal. The challenge was not a lack of information, but making it accessible. Data from the ECD, the HR system, and financial records were siloed. Without cohesion, there can be no effective management.

Making Data Manageable

SureSync brings these disparate sources together. Standard reports provide management with daily insight into current developments. Where necessary, customized reports are created to address specific care needs.

“We know exactly where we need our staff and can provide care to our clients, allowing them to live at home for as long as possible. And that’s ultimately what it’s all about for us.”

Mathijs Koenen, the healthcare contact at SureSync, emphasizes that accessibility and security go hand in hand: “We ensure that data is received in an accessible, structured, and secure manner, so that Santé can put it to immediate use. Only authorized personnel can access the data, and our servers are located within the Netherlands.”

From Data Challenges to KIK-V Readiness

In addition to daily reporting, Santé Partners and SureSync are collaborating on a broader challenge: KIK-V. The national standard for data exchange in long-term care sets requirements for definitions that do not always align with how healthcare organizations have structured their own data.

“We faced quite a few challenges with KIK-V. Our definitions differed from those of KIK-V itself. With the validation dashboard, we could see at a glance where the differences lay.”

Santé Partners was the first organization to go live with the KIK-V Data Station, developed in collaboration with SureSync. The data quality monitor resulting from that collaboration checks source data against the KIK-V standard and shows exactly what needs to be resolved and where.

Mathijs: “Santé already had its data in order, but together we looked at how we could prepare it for KIK-V. They operate in many different regions. You don’t want a separate data station in every region. We tackled that issue together.”

A Collaboration That Delivers Results

What Santé Partners appreciates most about the collaboration is that SureSync truly thinks along with them. It’s not about delivering standard solutions and moving on, but working together to figure out what’s needed.

“We really like that approach, because it gives us a solution that truly meets our needs. For us, the partnership is far from over; we’re excited that with SureSync we can take on new challenges, which will ultimately allow us to help our people as best as possible.”
